We often think of philosophy as being a lofty subject studied by dreamy thinkers locked (from the inside) in a room the top floor of an obelisk, their feet far from the ground.
But philosophy is an integral part of everyone’s life whether they know it or not. The philosophy of the scientific method is the foundation of all the sciences, but the same philosophy is played out every day throughout the day in everyone’s lives. If not, we couldn’t survive. We are continually accessing data with our senses and aligning that data as premises from which we draw conclusions. The philosophers call this a syllogism, but we don’t need to know that to do it. In fact, syllogisms were in use long before philosophers identified the process and gave it a name.
The point is you and I and everyone else are born philosophers. We were made this way. The laws of logic are built-in, hardwired and ready to go at birth. Put there by God. When that new model hit the showroom floor (we’re talking about you) it sported a state-of-the-art discernment module under that shiny new hood! Already up and running even before the 1st test drive.
What have you done with it?
What will you do with it?
