We all know about the physical world.
We live in it.
It’s ruled by absolute, unchanging, unbreakable laws that each of us is aware of, explicitly or intuitively.
Including the laws of Logic.
But what of the world beyond the physical? The metaphysical world?
What do we know about it?
Is it also ruled by absolute, unchanging, unbreakable laws?
Or is it exempt?
Is the metaphysical beyond the silly notions of the absolute?
Many in our world think so.
Are all hallucinations equally valid?
For them it is an untamable infinite wild west for the imagination, where the laws of logic need not apply, and all hallucinations are equally valid.
Of course that opens up a sober subject to endless drunken lines of illogic embraced by those who would rewrite creation (and reality) to fit their preferences.
That’s because those not grounded in the truth who “believe” in the metaphysical, think truth is not only beyond physics but beyond logic and The Absolute.
In other words metaphysics is whatever you and I decide to dream up!
After all there isn’t any way to verify or corroborate the accuracy of one description over another. Right?
Wrong.
Beyond Physics ≠ Beyond Logic
Just as the physical world in which we live is dictated by certain Absolute Laws, so is the Metaphysical world.
I know that ruins the party for all the “free thinkers” out there.
But you aren’t thinking freely if your thoughts are a lie. I know, I’ve been there.
And it takes work to stay “sober”, to give up the heady draught of a runaway imagination that tells us what we want to believe.
The Source
How do we know that the metaphysical is also ruled by absolute, unchangeable laws? Because it has the same source as the physical world.
Who created the physical world?
God.
In the beginning God Created the Heavens and the Earth. The Big Bang.
It begins and ends with Him.
But who’s God are we talking about? You may ask. The Catholic? The Universalist? The guru in Sebastopol?
No one’s God. He belongs to no one but Himself. It doesn’t matter what you and I think or want to think or imagine. He defines Himself.
God is.
The Great I Am. The Uncaused Cause. The same yesterday and today and forever. The First and the Last, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light.
But how do I know that?
By answering the following question.
Does He and has He reached out to us? Has He and does He communicate His existence, His will and His plan insomuch as can be understood by those of our ilk?
Has He revealed Himself to us?
In four ways: Creation, The Word, The Living Word and The Spirit of Truth.
-The physical universe.
-The Bible.
-Jesus Christ.
-The Holy Spirit.
Any other so-called revelation of God falls short logically, historically and evidentially.
Such wise and eloquently expressed thoughts, my friend.
I have a very close friend Mark (my best friend since we started playing together in his backyard when we were nine) who accepted Jesus as his savior some thirty years ago. Mark was overjoyed to learn of my conversion from Agnostic to born-again Christian in September 2014. Another mutual friend (Charles) of fifty years duration has been suffering severe health problems and Mark is praying he will accept Jesus … and has offered up very similar “hard evidence” (as you have lovingly, expertly done through your teaching) of God’s total supremacy and Jesus’ sacrifices for humankind so we can live for eternity in His kingdom. This article is being sent to Mark for his sharing with Charles and I pray it will spark a change of outlook and conviction.
Thank you, Marc, so your contributions to our enlightenment and understanding.
