So much of what we learn in life is incorrect and must be unlearned.
And we can’t blame it on any one source because it comes at us from all directions.
Also, if we are going to blame specific people in our lives then we ought blame ourselves too, because we are passing the same along to others!
How do we become vigilant without also becoming paranoid and defensive once aware of negative and parasitic forces in our hearts and minds? After all it can be unnerving to see outside forces at work within ourselves of which we were previously unaware.
It’s like discovering our body is host to a tapeworm! Can you imagine the panic? It’s not like removing our coat upon finding a snake in the sleeve. As much as we might feel the urgent need, we can’t merely separate ourselves from ourselves. A civil war is not the prescribed treatment.
How do we remain calm yet vigilant without succumbing to fear and denial?
By keeping our trust in, and our eyes on The Doctor: Jesus the Christ.
His credentials can be trusted.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
